Hazen’s Holojet® Takes Center Stage in HP Holographic Trading Card Demo at PRINTING United Expo

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – In addition to great conversations with so many of our industry partners, the highlight of PRINTING United Expo 2026 was seeing Hazen’s Multi-Pattern Holojet® running on the HP Indigo 18K Digital Press. For Hazen, it was an exciting opportunity to showcase our materials alongside a global leader in digital printing technology, and a great example of what can happen when the right materials, technology, and creative application come together.

The result? A trading card that was hard to miss.

A custom holographic trading card, printed digitally

Hazen’s Holojet® (holographic) and Foiljet ® (silver) materials are pre-primed for digital printing, providing excellent ink adhesion and rub resistance. For the demonstration, the cards featured custom-registered holography, with each holographic effect originated at Hazen’s vertically integrated facility in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Combined with HP’s digital printing technology, the result was a finished card that brought digital print and specialty materials together in one application.

What makes a custom holographic trading card different?

The holographic effect doesn’t have to be a standard pattern applied across the entire card. Hazen can develop holography around the artwork, with options including:

• Registered holography

• 2D and 3D imagery

• Motion effects

• Fresnel lenses

• Microtext

• Angle-dependent reveals

• Wallpaper holography

• Custom holographic patterns

• Security features

With more than 1,000 registered patterns available, designers can select an existing effect or work with Hazen to create something custom.

From concept to finished card

Hazen can support the development of a custom holographic application from concept through production, with capabilities including holographic origination, metallization, coating, embossing, and lamination.

The same combination of digital printing and specialty materials can be explored for packaging, labels, promotional pieces, and other applications where brands want their printed materials to stand out.
